About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Fitter to join our long-standing team at Meandu Mine. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for:

• Performing critical repairs and proactive maintenance on Meandu’s mobile fleet, featuring industry-leading Caterpillar, Komatsu, and Hitachi mining equipment.
• Playing a key role in maintaining site productivity by supporting planned shutdowns, routine servicing, emergency breakdowns, and in-depth diagnostic work.
• Troubleshooting and resolving mechanical issues across engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and other essential systems on heavy vehicles and plant equipment.
• Implementing strategic preventative maintenance to maximize machinery performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Delivering high-quality repairs both in the field and within the workshop, ensuring minimal downtime and keeping equipment operational.

About You:

• Recognised trade qualifications as a Diesel Fitter or Heavy Vehicle Mechanic.
• Extensive experience in a similar role within the mining or heavy industry sector.
• Proficiency in diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing Caterpillar, Hitachi, and Komatsu mining equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills, initiative, and the ability to thrive in high-pressure environments.
• A proactive approach to safety, with a proven track record of adhering to and promoting workplace safety standards.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic work environment.

Meandu Mine

BUMA Australia provides a total mine service to Stanwell Corporation’s Meandu Mine to deliver coal to the adjacent Tarong power station. We are responsible for both managing and operating the mine.

Services provided include planning, drilling, overburden removal, coal mining, coal processing, rehabilitation, and maintenance of mobile and fixed plant. The project uses a combination of dragline and truck-and shovel operations. Meandu Mine currently has five working pits, with sufficient coal to fuel the stations until at least 2037.

Meandu is a residential mine nearby to the town of Nanango and within 50km of the thriving township of Kingaroy. As residential mine, camp accommodation is not provided.
