About the Role: 

We are now seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to join our Goonyella operation. Reporting to the site Technical Services Superintendent, you will be responsible for our short and mid term planning, scheduling and optimisation along with the following: 

• Develop and implement daily and weekly mine plans and schedules 

• Develop and implement operational mine designs 

• Collaborate and communicate with Production to ensure mine plans are realistic, achievable and accurate 

• Foster productive relationships both internally and with the client, actively demonstrating behaviours including honest and open communication, teamwork, trust, processes and systems and embracing a “best for project” philosophy 

• Work with the client to improve and optimise planning and scheduling outcomes  

• Ensure mine plans and schedules are compliant with the site Safety Health Management System 

• Prepare weekly and end of month reports 

• Assist in developing and teaching graduate and student engineers 

• Support risk management processes and participate in investigations of hazards and incidents 

About You: 

• Tertiary qualifications in Mining or Civil Engineering 

• Strong operational focus 

• Experience in open cut mining or a technical background in associated heavy civil works 

• 5+ years’ experience in the design and operating aspects of coal and/or hard rock mines 

• Advanced level of computer literacy is essential, including significant experience using mine planning software 

• Technical and analytical skills in relation to mining activities and mining equipment 

• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills

Goonyella: 

Located in the Bowen Basin of Central Queensland, BMA’s Goonyella Mine is one of Queensland’s largest coal mines. It is situated approximately 30 kilometres from the town of Moranbah.  

BUMA Australia provides labour, supervision, technical support and mobile plant to perform truck and excavator pre-strip operations.
