We are now seeking Health & Safety Advisors in the Bowen Basin on an 8/6 roster.

Our Bowen Basin Projects

Burton Mine: Located approximately 2 hrs from Mackay and 50 minutes from Nebo

Blackwater Mine: Located approximately 1 hr from Emerald and 2.5 hrs from Rockhampton

Goonyella Riverside: Located approximately 30 minutes from Moranbah and 2.5 hrs from Mackay

BUMA Australia provides a range of services and equipment at our projects including heavy mobile plant, labour, supervision and technical support, drill/blast and statutory roles.

 

About the Role:

As BUMA Australia grows, we have opportunities for Health & Safety Advisors to join our Bowen Basin projects on an 8/6 roster. Reporting to the HST Superintendent, the Health & Safety Advisor will coordinate site based occupational Health & Safety activities to ensure the competence and well-being of people, the integrity of equipment and the safe handling of materials.

 

You will be responsible for helping our frontline supervisors to implement and apply the site Safety and Health Management System (SHMS) and provide advice on incident investigation and injury management.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitating safety investigations (ICAM or 5 Whys), preparing reports and recommendations, and implementing corrective and preventative actions
  • Facilitation of Risk Assessments and mentoring of the risk assessment process to front line and middle management
  • Using the BUMA MYOSH Platform, conducting regular audits, workplace inspections, critical control observations and field leadership activities, and providing guidance and coaching on improving safety practices
  • Facilitating workplace rehabilitation and return-to-work programs for injured workers in consultation with medical practitioners
  • Assisting with maintaining and complying with the site SHMS across our production and maintenance departments
  • Assisting in the delivery of Health and Safety programs across the site

 

About You:

  • Diploma in Workplace Health & Safety or equivalent at a minimum. Tertiary qualifications are highly regarded
  • Workplace Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator experience is highly regarded
  • Current Australian driver’s licence

  • RIIRIS402 Carry out the risk management process (G2)
  • Competence in computer use with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of the mining industry’s regulations and legislation relating to health and safety or relevant heavy industry experience is essential
  • Ability to build rapport with site-based leaders and workforce
