Goonyella Riverside: Located approximately 30 minutes from Moranbah and 2.5 hrs from Mackay
Meandu Mine: Located approximately 30 minutes from Kingaroy and 2.5 hrs from Brisbane
About the Role:
As BUMA Australia grows, we are seeking a full time permanent Operational Technology Manager to join our South Bank office.
Reporting to the Senior Information & Technology Manager, you will be responsible for managing BUMA’s operational technology systems and driving vendor delivery. The role is responsible for ensuring OT systems meet the needs of the organisation, are efficient and effective, and provide accurate and timely data for decision-making purposes.
- Lead and coordinate the Operational Technology (OT) team’s daily activities.
- Develop and execute OT strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Create an OT roadmap for standardized, reliable, and cost-effective solutions.
- Define operational requirements for existing and new sites.
- Implement policies to ensure OT systems are secure, reliable, and effective.
- Manage the OT budget and spending.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders and suppliers.
- Negotiate supplier contracts and monitor service delivery against SLAs.
- Oversee procurement and lifecycle management of OT assets.
- Provide senior management with reports on operational insights and improvements.
- Ensure OT systems comply with industry standards and regulations.
- Identify and manage risks, participate in disaster recovery, and support continuity planning.
- Maintain and evaluate OT service catalogues and solutions.
- Stay updated on mining technology to maintain competitiveness.
- Develop and maintain system registers and user documentation.
- Deliver training and communicate with end-users professionally.
- Continuously improve technical knowledge and adapt to evolving practices.
It is expected that this position works from the BUMA South Brisbane office five days a week. Travel to our projects is expected 1-2 times per month.
About You:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or Cert 3 in Electrical Technology.
- 5+ years of OT experience, preferably in mining.
- Experience with fleet management, HPGPS, payload monitoring, and driver safety systems.
- Strong IT skills in networks, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and wireless platforms.
- Proven leadership abilities to manage teams and influence executives.
- Experience in project planning and execution; Project Management certification is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork, with a proactive approach to hazard management.
