About the Role: 

We are seeking an experienced H&S Advisor to support the implementation and effectiveness of health and safety systems across our Blackwater site operations. Reporting to the HSET Superintendent, you will provide hands-on advice to frontline leaders and crews, facilitate risk and hazard management activities, support injury management and rehabilitation processes, and play a key role in incident investigations, audits, and ongoing safety program delivery.

 

Key Responsibilities Include

 

  • Provide advice and support to frontline leaders and workers on risk and hazard management
  • Assist with implementation and ongoing improvement of the SHMS across site
  • Participate in and facilitate functional audits (CRM, SHMS)
  • Support injury management and return-to-work processes
  • Conduct and assist with incident investigations and analysis
  • Deliver and support site-based H&S programs and initiatives
  • Act as a key point of contact for workers regarding H&S systems and processes
  • Promote a strong safety culture aligned to zero harm principles


About You: 

  • Minimum Diploma in WHS / OHS (or similar)
  • RIIRIS402 (G2) and Supervisor Competencies (S1–S3) preferred
  • ICAM or equivalent incident investigation qualification highly regarded
  • Rehabilitation and Return to Work competency desirable
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in H&S within mining, construction, or heavy industry
  • Strong understanding of risk management and incident investigation practices
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence across diverse teams
  • Energetic, proactive, and committed to improving frontline safety outcomes

Blackwater Mine

Located in Central Queensland, Blackwater Mine is one of the state’s largest coal mines, just 21 km from Blackwater. BUMA Australia has been handling truck and excavator pre-strip operations here since 2012, moving over 35 million BCM of material annually.

Our fleet includes Komatsu 930E and Caterpillar 789C haul trucks, paired with Hitachi EX8000, Caterpillar 6060, and Hitachi EX3600 excavators.
