Title:  Graduate Mining Engineer

This is a developmental role aimed at providing a recently graduated engineer the opportunity to develop their skills and abilities through the assignment of specific work tasks over a graduate development program. At the completion of the graduate development program, the Graduate is expected to have demonstrated their abilities and developed sufficient skills to allow them to be employed elsewhere within the Company.

Key responsibilities include: 

• Developing improvements to the survey, mine planning and open cut mining processes 

• Provision of mine plans and drawings to allow the workings to be planned to the contract specifications 

• Preparation and presentation of daily and weekly production reports and summaries 

• Preparation of accurate records on the performance of the project and workings 

• Developing an understanding of all statutory requirements in the survey, planning and reporting of the project 

• Developing specific skills in the areas of mine planning and plant operation 

• Gaining familiarity with the preparation processes of budget, forecast, actual data and other project management documentation determined to be necessary by the Project Manager 

• Provision of monthly report and production statistics to enable accurate claims to be made with the client 

• Preparing periodical reports as required to review project performance 

• Ensuring compliance with HR policies, standards and procedures as per PMP 

• Identifying workplace issues and resolving them in a timely manner 

• Fostering productive relationships both internally and with the Client 

• Presenting BUMA services, culture, and philosophy to the Client  

• Actively contributing to team meetings providing thought leadership on technical mining issues 

 
About You:  

• Bachelor of Engineering or Degree/Diploma in Surveying, Mining Engineering or a relevant field 

• High standard of written and oral communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills 

• Advanced level of computer literacy and the ability to analyse data
