Burton Mine: Located approximately 2 hrs from Mackay and 50 minutes from Nebo

Goonyella Riverside: Located approximately 30 minutes from Moranbah and 2.5 hrs from Mackay

Meandu Mine: Located approximately 30 minutes from Kingaroy

 

BUMA Australia provides a range of services and equipment at our projects including heavy mobile plant, labour, supervision and technical support, drill/blast and statutory roles.

 

About the Role:

 

As BUMA Australia grows, we are seeking a full time Health & Safety Graduate to join our team. This is a developmental role aimed at providing a recently graduated health & safety professional the opportunity to develop their skills and abilities through the assignment of specific work tasks over a graduate development program. At the completion of the graduate development program, the Graduate is expected to have demonstrated their abilities and gained sufficient skills to allow them to be employed within BUMA.
 

The successful Graduate will commence their program at Blackwater Mine and then complete rotations of approximately 8 months’ duration at our other sites.
 

Upon completion of the BUMA Health & Safety Graduate Program, you will be proficient and competent in:

 

  • Facilitating safety investigations (ICAM), preparing reports and recommendations, and implementing corrective and preventative actions
  • Facilitating Risk Assessments using multiple risk assessment tools including WRAC and BowTie
  • Mentoring front line leadership on the risk assessment process and tools
  • Identification of safety issues and problems, ensuring corrective action is taken and monitored
  • Conducting regular audits, workplace inspections, critical control observations and field leadership activities, and providing guidance and coaching on improving safety practices
  • Facilitating workplace rehabilitation and return-to-work programs for injured workers in consultation with medical practitioners
  • Communicating to employees on project performance as well as broader corporate departments with regard to health and safety performance


About You: 

 

  • Bachelor of Occupational Health & Safety, Risk, Health & Safety Management or related discipline (recent graduate)
  • Preferably residing in the Central Queensland area
  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence
  • High standard of written and oral communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Advanced level of computer literacy
  • Good rapport building skills and ability to communicate with site-based leaders and workforce
  • Ability to complete a two-year graduate program, rotating across our projects
